Fees and Charges

Do you agree with the proposed Fees and Charges for 2024/25?

No, I disagree - please explain?

Do you have any comments on this?

I'm concerned with the expenses on vital services that everyone should be given opportunity to experiencing becoming too expensive. I have been teaching children learn to swim and drowning prevention. I find it concerning how many children in Te Aroha that cannot swim to save themselves, we have 5-6year olds who are scared to put their face under water, when a 3month old baby can naturally hold their breath and if continued correctly from a young age a 5-6yr old would be able to safely safe themselves, and even has the ability to swim freestyle and backstroke. The lack of access to affordable lifesaving lessons is concerning. Majority of parents and school teachers lack the knowledge and skill to provide suitable education. Your proposed changes have a flow on effect to the children who need to experience safe water environments. You provide discounts to schools hiring your facility, so I assume education should be discounted? Can a small local company providing an educational based community service receive the same? Entry fees for ratepayers stay the same. Charge tourists more? Look at ways to staff your facilities to save on staffing costs? Same goes to sporting development hire costs for venues, it impacts the kids at the end of the day if the parents can't afford the proposed increases their kids are excluded.
