Additional playgrounds
What do you think we should do?
Alternative option: Cut costs further by deferring the Te Aroha playground?
Te Aroha Spa
What do you think we should do?
Proposed option: Continue investigating options?
Any other comments on Te Aroha Spa:
As a tourist lure, the maintenance and longevity of the spa facility must be continued.
Roading
What do you think we should do?
Alternative option: Keep roading renewals at the current level?
Any other comments on roading renewals:
Cutting costs or reducing investment costs more in the long run. Road safety is paramount at all times.
Walking and cycling improvements
What do you think we should do?
Proposed option: Stop budgeting for new walking and cycling connections and safety improvements?
Do you have any comments on this?
This is difficult, I agree stop budgeting for new walking and cycling connections but I don't agree with compromising safety improvements. Any safety improvements that have been, or will be identified within the period, should be addressed.
Town Centre infrastructure
What do you think we should do?
Proposed option: Prioritise maintenance and renewals and Pride of Place?
Do you have any comments on this?
Keep things ticking over until better times.
Te Aroha Library
What do you think we should do?
Proposed option: Investigate and deliver a suitable building to continue providing library services in Te Aroha?
Any other comments on Te Aroha Library:
Cutting vital community services like a Library (and a good one) is the thin end of the wedge; this service needs to continue but acknowledge a new building is needed whilst seismic strengthening is undertaken. Perhaps the Council could lease the old Post Office from the owner for the duration?
Fees and Charges
Do you agree with the proposed Fees and Charges for 2024/25?
No, I disagree - please explain?
Do you have any comments on this?
Largely yes but I feel the increases for cemeteries and the related costs have risen too steeply. I agree with a user-pays approach in general, this seems more equitable, but the proposed rise in costs seem disproportionately high.
