Te Aroha Spa

What do you think we should do?

Alternative option: Stop work on it all together?

Any other comments on Te Aroha Spa:

Please look at private investment for development and let these run as self sustained business profit unit, which can run and develop based on its own revenue

Roading

What do you think we should do?

Proposed option: Reduce our roading renewal programme to cut costs?

Walking and cycling improvements

What do you think we should do?

Alternative option: Continue to steadily improve walking and cycling connections, but over a longer time frame?

Do you have any comments on this?

The central government or growing Auckland council is not favoring the costly crossing pathways. So, there is need to improve the safety factors around walking or cycling but there is also need to see how it can be implemented with an optimal option.

Town Centre infrastructure

What do you think we should do?

Proposed option: Prioritise maintenance and renewals and Pride of Place?

Do you have any comments on this?

There is need for clarity what will be the core point of view of each of the cities ie., we want cities where many travelers will visit or industrial place or multi modal cities or place for retirement . If we are able to bring more revenues through industry / attracting travelers , etc. then focus on on projects like pride of place will have clear path way.

Additional playgrounds

What do you think we should do?

Alternative option: Cut costs further by deferring the Te Aroha playground?

Do you have any comments on this?

Like Hamilton City Council - look at option to build world class playground in cooperation with social organization.

Our Approach to Rates and Debt

What do you think we should do?

Alternative option: Borrow money to help cover the high increase for the year ahead?

Do you have any comments?

Even the increase of 10% looks looting. You have increased the rates by 19% in 2023-24 compared to 2022 -23. The inflation is running around 4.7%, the minimum wage increase proposed is in 1-2%, and the mortgage interest rates are running in 7 - 8 %. when you see all these percentage, you are proposing the rate increases of 10% (double digit) after 19% in 23-24, which look atrocious. If you can't bring more revenue from other source then don't make the rate payer as scape goats for your dream. If the past mayors and council have missed to plan in the past then please collect money from them and ask them to pay for projects and not ratepayers need to get impacted by it.

Stage for the Matamata-Piako Civic and Memorial Centre

What do you think we should do?

Proposed option: Remove this project from our work programme?

The services we provide

What do you think we should do?

Alternative option: Cut Council services to get the rates increase lower?

Any other comments on this?

Even 13% increase is very high. I don't understand how you have this much increase. if there is any other possibilities to increase your revenue in the pools using the advertisements? possible to bring use the infrastructure for other functions or industry employee activities? Please work with near by councils to bring down the fixed costs. what kind of cost reduction projects are running inside the council ? there is need to go out of box and create big transformation in thinking

Development Contributions

Do you agree with the proposed Development Contributions Policy?

Yes, I agree
