I agree that fees and charges for the control of dogs should not be a blanket fee for all rate payers particularly if they do not own a dog. However, I firmly believe that the rebate for responsible dog ownership should increase too to offset this. My reasoning for this is that I very frequently see posts on the community Facebook page about dogs roaming around Morrinsville without their registration tags or their owner present, and the lack of control or appropriate containment of dogs is a big problem in Morrinsville. This is a nuisance to the community, however, responsible dog owners should not be penalised with increased costs to control issues such as these because of irresponsible dog owners, without an increase in the rebate for those who deserve it.
