Alternative option: Continue to steadily improve walking and cycling connections, but over a longer time frame?

I would like to investigate fundraising to extend a cycleway to Waihou to connect the community to the schools in Te Aroha, and promote business opportunities relating to the cycleway in Waihou. I think it’d be great for Waihou, and I think there’s an opportunity with the pub becoming a destination, if there is appetite there. Waihou reminds me of Ophir down south. While Ophir has an amazing bridge and some very old buildings; people take the opportunity to detour as it’s a destination. If the pub jumped on board with this in Waihou, I think there’s potential there to be like Ophir. Down South, the cycle ways ride through the pubs and have clearly been thought through with business owners. I don’t think it needs to necessarily be Council funded, however some Council investment towards feasibility and funding applications. I’d also like to see signage promoting other activities so those utilising the cycleway have an incentive to stay in town to explore what we have for them to do. Thank you Lisa
