Roading

Proposed option: Reduce our roading renewal programme to cut costs?

Milk (bulk) is on the way our anyway. (Waitoa and other closures). Wear and tear will eventually reduce.
Walking and cycling improvements

Alternative option: Continue to steadily improve walking and cycling connections, but over a longer time frame?

Saving on safety improvements is of course false economy. Lives and health are precious. Cycling must be encouraged from a young age to make it a life long habit. We want to be able to reduce road wear and tear right?
Town Centre infrastructure

Proposed option: Prioritise maintenance and renewals and Pride of Place?

Our Approach to Rates and Debt
Do you have any comments?
The rate of increase was too high last year, and is this year. It proves that there is mis-management within council - like: hiring additional managers! Apply judgements on spending like you would for your own household and we should come out better. Now is the time to learn that additional features and additional staff are unsustainable in the long term.

Pan charges again? Householder must indeed have the option, as stated, to apply to have a water meter installed. At no cost of course.
Development Contributions
Do you have any comments on this?
Where is it? Could only find 3 options, and legal requirement to have one (containing prescritions). I call for Option Number One - Developer pays for growth to be implemented. No loss to ratepayers, no fuss predicting and calculating "shares". It's user pays.

Adjust Building Consents and Monitoring to 100% for properties of high value (commercial enterprises, residences of 3 and more bedrooms, whole developments etc. who can well afford it).
